When preparing for your Ha Giang Loop adventure, it is important to make sure you have packed everything you need. Along the loop, you will only be stopping at viewpoints, a lunch stop and at your accomodation. You are visiting and staying in very rural villages with little opportunity to get off the path to grab something you may be missing.
We have you covered to make sure you have everything you need in your backpack. Here is a tried and tested list of what to bring on your Ha Giang Motorbike Adventure!
- Activewear leggings/shorts – you are constantly hopping on and off the motorbike. A pair of comfortable and stretchy pants will be a godsend on your trip!
- Rain jacket – most tour groups will provide you with plastic rain ponchos and pants should you need them. However, the weather is extremely humid and these plastic ponchos are so stuffy and sweat inducing! A rain jacket is a much better option to keep you dry and comfortable!
- Headband – I have never regretted bangs as much as I did on this tour. My bangs are too short to tie into my bun and often came out of my cap. There is nothing worse than having hair blowing in your face when trying to enjoy a peaceful ride! So get yourself a thick headband and thank me later.
- Wired headphones – we made the mistake of bringing our AirPods and these little suckers were hard to keep in. You are riding on some tough terrain and the bounce causes your earbuds to come loose so play it safe and get a pair of wired headphones to save yourself the regret.
- Bluetooth speaker – imagine sitting down with your group after dinner and trying to enjoy a few drinks but one thing is missing…tunes! A Bluetooth speaker is perfect to create atmosphere keep the vibes going at all those viewpoint stops and during your night gatherings.
- Deck of cards – we are those people who will take a deck of cards on every trip. It is the perfect pass time for those long haul journeys but even better to break the ice in a social setting. Everybody loves a good card game and it is the perfect way to get everyone involved! Avoid that “we should have brought cards”, kick yourself moment!
- Hat and Sunglasses – no one likes helmet hair and no one likes dirt in their eyes.
- Shoulder bag – your backpack will be strapped to the bike in a waterproof bag. A shoulder bag is a must to keep your essentials such as phone, cash, headphones, lip balm, whatever you can’t go a moment without!
- Tissues – Toilet paper isn’t always common at public toilets, especially in rural Vietnam. We aren’t drip dry girlies!
- Mosquito repellent- NEVER LEAVE WITHOUT.
In terms of clothing – two shirts, two pairs of pants/shorts, a pair of enclosed shoes and sandals is really all you need. Chuck in your toiletry bag and you’re all set!
Let me know in the comments if we missed any must have items that would have made our trip even better!
